Crystal Care Guide

Pure crystal is a timeless investment. With proper care, your Margerie Crystal collection will retain its captivating sparkle and clarity for generations. Here are our recommendations for caring for your handcrafted pieces:

1. Washing Ritual

  • Hand Wash Only: We strongly advise against using a dishwasher. High temperatures and harsh detergents can cause the crystal surface to become dull over time.

  • Temperature: Wash using lukewarm (not hot) water and a non-abrasive, mild liquid soap.

  • Technique: Wash each piece individually to prevent cracking from contact with other glasses or the sink. If you wear rings, we recommend removing them or using rubber gloves to prevent scratching the glass.

2. Drying and Polishing

  • Immediate Drying: To prevent water stains, dry your crystal immediately after washing.

  • Fabric Selection: Use a soft, lint-free microfiber or linen cloth. Avoid cloths washed with fabric softener, as this can leave a residue on the glass.

  • Method: To prevent bending or breaking the stem, hold the glass by the bowl (never just the stem or base). Gently polish the glass to restore its signature shine.

3. Service and Use

  • Thermal Shock: Crystal is sensitive to extreme temperature changes. Do not pour boiling liquid into a cold crystal glass, and avoid placing crystal directly in the freezer.

  • Ice: Gently place ice cubes in the glass; do not drop them from above, as the impact may damage the delicate base of the glass.

4. Storage Conditions

  • Store your crystal glasses upright. Do not stack them inside each other unless they are specifically designed for this purpose; this can lead to scratches or cracks.

  • If you plan to store it for a long time, remember that crystal can absorb odors over time, so keep the area free from strong scents.

Treat your Margerie Crystal products with the same care that goes into their production; this way, they will remain a shining piece of your home forever.
