Craftsmanship

In a world dominated by mediocrity, Margerie Crystal represents the unique. We reject the cold perfection of factory molds; we prefer the warm, living character of handcrafted art. Each piece in our collection is a testament to human talent, patience, and an unwavering commitment to beauty.

Step 1: The Kiss of Life (Mouth Blowing)

The journey of each Margerie glass begins in the heart of a furnace heated to over 1400 degrees (2000°F). Our master glassblowers gather the molten crystal at the end of a pipe.

With a technique unchanged for millennia, the craftsman's powerful and controlled breath breathes life into the glowing sphere. It is a dance of timing and gravity. The glass is constantly spun, expanded, and shaped using simple wooden tools and the craftsman's instincts. This process allows the crystal not just to take shape, but to "be born," giving it a structural integrity and clarity that machine-made glass can never achieve.

Step 2: Precision of the Cut (Hand Cut)

Once the glass cools and hardens, it enters the "cold workshop" where the piece's true character emerges. This is where our signature geometric patterns come to life.

Our master cutters use diamond-tipped wheels to engrave intricate designs directly onto the crystal's surface. This process requires a steady hand and an artist's eye. A single mistake means the loss of all the labor. The deep cuts you see in our Gloria or Lanza series are not molded; they are physically carved from the crystal. This creates sharp, prismatic surfaces that capture and refract light like a diamond.

Step 3: Polishing and Inspection

The final stage is polishing. Raw cuts are smoothed and polished until a high-gloss finish is achieved, allowing the true vibrancy of the color to shine through.

Finally, each piece undergoes meticulous manual inspection. We look for the weight, balance, and clarity that define Margerie Crystal. Because our products are handmade, you may find minor differences—a tiny air bubble or a slight variation in weight. These are not defects; they are proof of authenticity, the fingerprint of the craftsman who made it.

Certified Handcrafted

When you buy a product from Margerie Crystal, you support a dying art form. Instead of the instant gratification offered by the industrial, you choose the "slow luxury" of the handmade. You choose a piece with soul.
